GFCI Breaker Nuisance Tripping - Neutral Wire modification

This article addresses nuisance GFCI issues by going through how to change the wiring of the neutral wires

Items & Tools Needed:

  • Slotted screwdriver
  • #2 Phillips screwdriver

Precautions:

Before starting this work procedure, ensure that the trailer is not connected to shore power, and that both the 100- and 200-amp breakers inside the front compartment are switched off.

Step 1: Unscrew the Panel Cover Inside the Cabin

Using the #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws holding the wiring panel cover and then remove the panel cover.

Step 2: Turn off the Breakers Inside the Panel

Ensure that all the breakers are turned off before working with the neutral wires.

Step 3:

Using the slotted screwdriver, loosen the screws holding the left-most wires. Remove the wires from the panel strip, then install them into the left panel strip. It does not matter what slot they are in. Make sure they are tightened properly by attempting to pull them out by hand – they should not come out.

Wrap-up:

Switch the breakers inside the panel back on, then reinstall the panel cover. Switch your 100- and 200-amp breakers back on if needed for operation. Your trailer is now operational!
