This article will explain how to install both the half and full length shelves into your trailer
Tools Required:
- Riveting tool
- Impact driver or drill
- #2 Robertson bit for driver/drill
- 3/16” drill bit
Items required:
- 2x Shelves (with hinges) OR 1x long shelf
- 4x Shelf resting brackets (half shelves)
- 2x Latches (half shelves)
- 3/16” rivets (included)
- 4x Self-tapping machine screws (included, half shelves)
Half Shelves
Step 1:
Following the template below, drill 3/16” holes in each place according to the diagram. The outer dimensions are from the bends in the interior walls. The left side is a mirror of the right side. The red circles are where the holes need to be drilled, don’t plunge the drill bit further than ~½”, the wall is only about ⅛” thick.
After drilling the holes, the shelf can be riveted to the wall using the supplied rivets.
Step 2:
Mount the latch according to the diagram below. Use the self-tapping screws to mount the latch in place.
Step 3:
Attach the shelf stoppers using the supplied machine screws, washers, and acorn nuts. The acorn nut should be on the underside of the shelf. Do not overtighten.
Long Shelf
Step 1:
Locate where the holes will need to be drilled. Using the figure below it can be seen that the mid point of the structural member is at about 2.95”. Rounding to 3” is acceptable. This distance is measured from the 45° bend.
Below is a figure showing the distances (inches) between the wall and the holes for the shelf, these values need to be as close as possible. Triple check fitment with the shelf in place before drilling. Use the shelf as a template if needed, but also check the dimensions before drilling.
Step 2:
Once all holes have been located accurately, drill the holes and rivet the shelf into place. Clean all shavings from the cabin.
